Roorkee Half-Marathon sees enthusiastic participation as over 1200 runners participate for Healthier and Fitter Roorkee

Roorkee.Rotary Club Roorkee Upper Ganges in collaboration with the Indian Army (Sangeen Shakti Brigade) and IIT Roorkee organised a hugely successful and the very first half marathon for the city of Roorkee on the 26th, November ‘23 ,

Approximately 1200 plus enthusiastic participants from all walks of life, from around the city and the neighbouring urban and rural area took part in this successful event.
Asian Games medallists, students from IIT and various schools, NCC cadets, Rotarians, scientists, doctors, lawyers,bankers, and various other organisations took part in this much publicized, marathon with great zeal and enthusiasm.
President of the Rotary Club Roorkee Upper Ganges Shree Salil Kumar Shandilya said that the partner organisations led by the Indian Army, Brig. Krishnendu Das, IIT Roorkee Director Prof. K. K. Pant had put in a lot of resources and efforts and had worked tirelessly in making this event such a huge success .


The marathon was flagged off by IIT Rke Director Shree K.K.Pant, Past President of Rotary Club Mrs. Nidhi Shandilya, Mrs Tanushree Das ( Chairperon AWWA Sangeen Shakti Brigade),from the B.E.G. pavilion ground and the route followed was along the scenic Upper Ganges Canal.
The prize distribution and felicitations were done by Roorkee MLA Shree Pradeep Batra who encouraged, supported and appreciated the event. The Chairman Sports Council Dr. Nagendra Chaturvedi, Dr. Parit Agarwal, Mr. Pramod Kir, Dr. V. Saharan, Dr. S. Airan, Dr. Vikas Tyagi, Brig. Hassanwalia , Mr. Anil Jain, were amongst the distinguished gathering.
The organisers of the event Captain Salil Shandilya and Mrs Nidhi Shandilya also thanked the civil administration including the Police, for providing their valuable and effective support.
